Signed into law during the 2015 legislative session, Act 46 seeks to move the State toward more sustainable models of education governance. It is designed to encourage and support local decisions and actions that:
Provide substantial equity in the quality and variety of educational opportunities
Lead students to meet or exceed the State’s Education Quality Standards
Maximize operational efficiencies through greater flexibility to manage, share, and transfer resources, with a goal of increasing district-level student-to-staff ratios
Promote transparency and accountability
Are delivered at a cost that parents, voters, and taxpayers value
Implementation must be voted on by the town of Wolcott and completed by July 1, 2019.
Upcoming Act 46 Events
Our school board is a member of the OSSU Act 46 Exploratory Committee to collaboratively develop proposals that meet the requirements of the law and serve the interest of our town.
Meeting dates for the 2016-2017 school year have not yet been set. Unless otherwise specified, meetings are held at OSSU Central Office in Hardwick from 6 - 8 pm. These meetings are open to the public.
